Ashley Romans, RNC, WHNP-BC
From a young age, Ashley Romans was always passionate about helping others. As a child, she would bring the bandages when she and her friends went on long bike rides! Ashley was introduced to health care early in life through her mom, who was a labor and delivery nurse for many years. Through her mom's stories, she developed a love of caring for women and their families, which led her to a nursing career.
Ashley is originally from a small town in central Kansas, and when it came time to choose a college, staying close to family was important. She started at Bethany College in her hometown where she played volleyball, but they did not have a nursing program. She then completed her education at Fort Hays State University where she obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.
Ashley had fallen in love with the mountains after visiting a volleyball teammate in Colorado and was thrilled to start her nursing career as a postpartum nurse at Penrose Community Hospital in Colorado Springs. She completed their labor and delivery training program as well, so was fortunate to care for women through antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum. She loved her time in Colorado, skiing, and hiking on her days off.
She met her husband who, coincidentally grew up 20 miles away from her hometown, when visiting friends in Kansas. They were engaged shortly after and, when looking for a place to start their lives together, decided Phoenix was a great fit. Ashley moved to Arizona after their wedding and accepted a position at HonorHealth Shea Medical Center where she worked in labor and delivery, triage, and antepartum. She continued to work night shift while completing her master's degree at Arizona State University and graduated in December 2010. She is credentialed as a Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner by the National Certification Corporation.
Ashley began her career as a nurse practitioner working for a perinatology office in Phoenix but missed caring for non-pregnant patients. She then joined a small practice in Scottsdale in 2012 where she was able to see the variety of patients she was hoping for. During this time, Ashley and her husband welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world. After returning to work, Ashley realized the commute to Scottsdale was impacting time with her family. In her search for something closer to home, Ashley came across an opportunity with SWCWC. She found the values and mission statement parallel her own beliefs as a provider. Ashley is thrilled to begin her journey as part of the Southwest Contemporary Women's Care team!
Ashley and her husband reside in Mesa and are busy chasing their 1 year old daughter and 75 pound snuggly dog. When not in the office, Ashley and her family love to hike, ski, camp, and play outside as much as possible.
