Dr. Robert Grayson graduated from the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, in 1990 after first completing his Master of Public Health degree UCLA. He served his internship and residency at Banner Good Samaritan hospital in downtown Phoenix and was boarded in the field of obstetrics and gynecology in 1994. He then founded Southwest Women’s Care, which recently became Southwest Contemporary Women’s Care. He has lived and practiced in the Ahwatukee community since that time.
Dr. Grayson’s areas of interest within the specialty are diverse. He is a next generation pioneer in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic gynecologic surgery with more than 20 years of experience and resultant expertise. He is a member of the American Academy of Gynecologic Laparoscopy and a founding member of the Center of Excellence in minimally invasive gynecology at Banner Desert Samaritan in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Grayson helped found and develop the first in-hospital obstetric and gynecology hospitalist program in the state of Arizona which has been helping provide emergency obstetric services at Banner Desert Hospital for the last 10 years. Office based surgery, diseases and conditions of the vulva and vagina, menopause and hormone replacement therapy, and sexual pain and dysfunction round out his interest.
He sought to promote and preserve professionalism and patient advocacy in his past roles as chair of the department and chair of Peer Review at Desert Samaritan Hospital.
Dr. Grayson initially chose his field of specialty because though he loves the precision and artistry of surgery, he equally values the opportunity, and is honored to be a “patient’s physician” partnering with them in their long term individualized health and wellness. Dr. Grayson is a true believer in nonjudgmental, relationship-based, patient-centered care. His philosophy is to be a care provider you must truly care.
Dr. Grayson sees patients at our Ahwatukee Office.
I am a very imperfect but devoted Christian and try hard to give God credit for my strengths and my accomplishments.
I am incredibly blessed to share my life with my college sweetheart and wife of more than 2 decades.
I have 3 incredible children, 2 daughters and a son.
My family is my passion.
I believe in the human potential for good and the strength of fellowship.
I believe in the people I practice with and am blessed, yet again, with the opportunity to serve our patients with them.
I love all things creative – working with my hands, hiking with my girls, biking with my son, skiing with my family, and anything in the water.
I believe the practice of medicine is a life long learning experience, and our patients are our greatest teachers. It is an honor to be let into their lives and participate in their care.
